I became a pediatrician because I get to think outside of the box and summon my own inner child every day to help me interact with kids during our visits. I firmly believe that if a child trusts me and can have fun at a visit, then we are all going to be OK! As your child’s pediatrician I promise to always bring positive energy to visits, even when your child has snot pouring out of their nose and the glazed over fever eyes.
I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and was raised on the household rule that you could only be inside for play or leisure for one hour per day. I’ve maintained that busy and active lifestyle throughout my years of being a competitive gymnast, gymnastics coach, CrossFit trainer, and now pediatrician! I also believe in practicing what I preach regarding a healthy lifestyle of exercising daily, eating healthy, less than 2 hours of screen time per day, and getting plenty of sleep (I can often be found going to bed before 8pm and waking up at 4:30am)! When I’m not at work or the gym I enjoy running, going on adventures with my dog Gary, hiking, and gardening!
Prior to making Wichita my home, I completed my pediatric residency training and worked for several years in Memphis, TN at Le Bonheur Childrens Hospital in a pediatric emergency department and outpatient clinics. My years of emergency medicine experience have helped me succeed as a pediatrician because I have seen the sickest kids, the weirdest illnesses, oddest objects placed into kids’ noses and ears, most outrageous injuries, and different presentations of common everyday illnesses. One thing I’ve learned…kids are here to challenge us all and they don’t always follow the book.
As your child’s pediatrician, I hope to interact with and get to know your whole family. They say it takes a village, and I am here to be a part of that village and help with parenting and raising happy healthy children!
